Our Commitment

At MKSS Institute of Law, we believe that every individual has the right to work and study in an environment free from sexual harassment. We are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere, and we stand firmly against all forms of sexual misconduct.


What Constitutes Sexual Harassment?

Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Unwelcome physical contact or advances

  • Sexually colored remarks or jokes

  • Displaying or sharing explicit content

  • Demand or request for sexual favors

  • Online harassment or cyberstalking

  • Creating a hostile or intimidating environment

Even a single instance can be enough to warrant action.


Scope of the Policy

This policy applies to:

  • All students, faculty, and administrative staff

  • Interns, contractors, and visitors

  • Conduct occurring on campus, during college events, online platforms, internships, or off-site academic programs


Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is established in accordance with the POSH Act, 2013 and UGC Regulations, 2015. It includes:

  • A senior woman faculty member (Presiding Officer)

  • Faculty/staff members

  • An external member (legal/NGO background)

  • Student representatives (as applicable)

The ICC is empowered to receive, investigate, and resolve complaints with utmost confidentiality and fairness.


How to Report Sexual Harassment

If you experience or witness sexual harassment, you are encouraged to report it. You can:

  • Submit a Complaint: In person or via the confidential drop box on campus

  • Phone: [Insert helpline number]

  • Online Form: [Link to complaint submission portal, if available]

đź”’ All complaints are treated confidentially and with sensitivity.


Redressal Process

  1. Complaint submission within 3 months of the incident

  2. Preliminary assessment by the ICC

  3. Formal inquiry, including statements and evidence

  4. Resolution & recommendation within 90 days

  5. Action taken by the institution—ranging from warning to expulsion or legal action


Protection Against Retaliation

Retaliating against a complainant, witness, or ICC member is strictly prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.


Awareness & Sensitization

  • Gender sensitization sessions during orientation

  • Awareness workshops throughout the year

  • Regular updates and resources shared via notice boards and online platforms
